All rules must be followed. Rules
will change yearly. PLEASE READ ALL RULES CAREFULLY.
Participation in the Butler County Fair will be looked upon as a privilege and an opportunity for girls to show their
skills, accomplishments, interests, and ideas they have or have developed in Girl Scouts. This shall be expressed through
high quality effort, neatness, and originality by each participant.
Every registered Girl Scout (Kindergarten through 12th grade) will be eligible to enter. Exhibits and
equipment will be under supervision at all times to protect them from loss or injury; however, neither Butler County Fair
nor Girl Scout Council will be liable for any lost or damaged exhibits or equipment. Entries will be entered under the
level the girl is registered in as of September 2006.
How to enter:
You may enter by going to the Register Now! page on this website, or you
may obtain entry forms and category packets by writing to Dianae Schroeder at 3287 Black Oak Drive, Hamilton, Ohio
45011 or by calling Di at (513)
726-5799.
Entry forms must be e-mailed to Di Schroeder by July 10, 2007; if entering by mail entries must be
postmarked by July 10, 2007.
Entries by mail must be either printed legibly in black ink or typed.
Each exhibitor will be permitted to enter in as many classes as desired. Please enter only in those classes in which
you actually intend to exhibit. However, you may not enter into a class not in your age level. NO MORE THAT ONE ENTRY CAN
BE MADE BY AND EXHIBITOR IN ANY ONE CLASS.
Each entry will be marked with a tag that will include name, program level, and category name when you turn in your
entry.
Rules for entering:
1.)
A 3x5 card should include the following information:
Program level
How and why the participant made the entry (materials used)
Include if the project has multiple parts
Note: DO NOT include your name on this card. Names will be placed separately
on items when they are delivered.
2.)
Multiple items of a project should each have the class number, girl’s exhibitor number, and age category of the
exhibitor clearly marked on them. Each part of the project should also have a count of what part of the exhibit the part is.
(i.e. 1 of 3, 2 of 3, 3 of 3). All parts together should not exceed size restriction - see Rule
# 4 below.
3.)
All exhibits must be made by the exhibitor and shall not have previously been entered in any Ohio State Fair exhibit.
School projects done by the exhibitor may be entered, even if it has been graded, but the grade, name of the exhibitor, and
teacher comments must be clearly covered.
4.)
Exhibits may not exceed the following size requirements.
22x28x22 inches with the exception of sewing projects that may be
folded.
5.)
All artwork, wall hangings, etc., must be within the stated size limitations. All art material must be matted or framed
and ready to hang. Wires, cords, etc., must be securely attached. No taped on cords or wire and no paste on hangers should
be used. Valuable craft items will not be boxed under glass. Unframed material may be stapled to display panels.
6.)
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR COOKING ENTRIES:
All exhibits MUST have recipes (ingredients
and directions), listed on 3x5 inch card(s), and attached to the entry tag at the upper right hand corner with the entry tag
on top. These are to include crust and filling recipes for pies, cakes, cookies, and frosting. Jams and jellies must include
processing instructions. Junior through senior level-cake/cupcakes may use creativity using a cake mix with added ingredients.
Icing, egg, oil, and water are not counted as creativity. You must also use other ingredients. Only use disposable containers.
Lost or damaged containers are not the responsibility of the Butler County Fair or Girl Scout Council. In cake decoration,
the icing recipe must be attached. In the case of pie, cake and bread the whole entry should be sent to prevent drying out
before judging. For cookies, candy, or cupcakes, six pieces are to be submitted. All food items must be covered. Two
(2) jars of same recipe jams or jellies must be entered; one to taste and one to display.
7.)
REFRIGERATION IS NOT AVAILABLE!
ITEMS THAT MAY SPOIL
WILL NOT BE JUDGED. For health reasons, food items may not be displayed.
8.)
A snapshot of the exhibitor wearing the garment must be attached showing the article modeled for all sewing projects.
9.)
All exhibits must be dropped off at Di Schroeder's house between 10am-1
pm on July
14, 2007. Projects will not be accepted after this noted time. Arrangements can be
made with Di Schroeder as to delivering a project to her before this date if need be.
JUDGING
Judging will be completed before the start of the beginning of the fair. A judge will be asked to judge all projects
without being biased. According to fair guidelines, results will not be released until 12 pm
(noon) on July 22, 2007.
Projects will be judged on originality, creativity, workmanship, attractive appearance, honesty of material and construction
durable enough for the designed projects.
Ribbons will be awarded to each project. This ribbon may be a placing ribbon or a participation ribbon.
Any project may be disqualified if found to be entered into the wrong age categories, being of size over that which
is previously mentioned, and/or any other rule or guideline that is not being followed by the exhibitor. Projects can also
be disqualified if they are found to be dangerous in any way.
BREAKDOWN
DAY AT THE END OF THE FAIR.
Projects must be picked up at the Youth Discovery
Building at the Butler County Fair between11:00am and 12 pm (noon) on July 29, 2007. If you are unable
to pick up your project, other arrangements must be made with either Di Schroeder or someone else. NO PROJECT MAY BE LEFT
AT THE YOUTH EXHIBIT HALL. If any
projects are left in the building, they will be disposed of as deemed necessary.
